Did you know I can see into the future? At least, when it comes to lighting, dining room and kitchen trends for 2012 I can. I spent most of last week working on features on these topics for a UK magazine – which meant working well into the night so I could catch PRs at work in a completely different timezone. Now I can tell you anything you want to know about what’s hot and what’s not in these areas. I can also tell you about the use of vitamin K2 in treating osteoporosis or about ways to combat seasonal affective disorder because I was working on stories about them too, but please don’t ask me, I might burst into tears with exhaustion.

In other news, I AM getting a new kitchen, though it’s not quite as pretty as the one pictured. After much to-ing and fro-ing we have taken a step onto the shaky property ladder and move in a month. Our new kitchen isn’t nearly as beautiful as the one we have now, but it will be ours, which is a strange concept to get used to. And the Boy Wonder is already talking about things we could do to it (in about 20 years’ time). That, reader, is why I married him.
What would be in your dream kitchen?
More creative spaces – kitchens or otherwise – here
So good to be vindicated. My kitchen is SO bang on trend and it is the kitchen of my dreams.
oh lucky you getting a mortgage, I love my mortgage !!! no really now when you want to plant a tree or paint a wall you can and you will, enjoy 🙂
Hope the move goes well. My dream kitchen is Dom's. Although to be honest, just a bigger kitchen would be good. One big enough for a large kitchen table. That would be bliss 🙂
Currently in my kitchen when I make a cup of tea I stand at the window and look over tree tops (I stand here because I am then out of eyesight of the kids so will get a chance not to be interrupted). It is very relaxing. We don't live in the mountains or in the country, we live in the suburbs. The aspect from that window just happens to be good, so my dream kitchen would have a tiny balcony that runs off it just for such cups of tea or coffee.
I have a real trendy vintage kitchen right now! lol It's great cos it's big! Love it. It could use some new doors & tops but oh well it is quite serviceable as it is so I'm lucky! Enjoy your soon to be new kitchen! It's an important room when considering buying a place!
Thanks for signing up for the Christmas Challenge. Unfortuately when your comment came through there is no direct email for you. I remember my comments on blogs used to do the same thing, then a fellow blogger emailled me and told me they couldn't reply to my emails and told me how to fix it. Sorry I can't remember how to fix it to tell you though. Maybe have a play with the settings.
Could you please email me at email@example.com so I can send you the details.
just found your blog today after stalking you via the comment you left on mine… I just had to say I'm in love! Your blog is absolutely my cup of tea and dude I want to write for Frankie!!! (but then who doesn't? feel free to crush my dreams and tell me it's not as glamorous as it sounds!!)
congratulations on new kitchen/home – I love that pic – space saving ideas like that pull out bread board attract me because no matter how big a kitchen I always want more room – I love old kitchens and kitchens with a large table in the middle that makes it the heart of the home and makes cooking a relaxed task rather than standing around doing work and waiting to sit and relax. I dream of an aga but am not sure how practical it really is
Oh it's so so exciting having a kitchen to yourself 🙂 Kind of like having your own room for a foodie…so you can make as much mess as you like without feeling guilty hehe.
Actually the kitchen pictured is pretty close to perfect! Simple and understated, classic, a HUGE wooden countertop, minimal clutter…sigh. I'd add to that a wood fired oven outside and a special greywater sink that basically waters my greenhouse garden… yep. Have it planned out alright!
How did you manage to get that picture of my kitchen??? Lol. I wish!!
Congratulations and I wish you the best of luck with the move. I used to talk about things to do in 20 years time but my wife had a different timescale based on months not years. No wonder I look so old.
My dream kitchen has a small stage where The Silver Seas are playing an acoustic set and Gwyneth Paltrow is helping me with the washing up. Well, a man can dream can't he?
Starting to work on our kitchen very soon. There is only one good space to work right now. We will have 3 in the future. Increasing the storage and our cabinet builder loves drawers, so we will have quite a few drawers. The glides will support 100#s and they are built strong, so they will be here in 50 years for the next cook to worry about! Or me and I won't be worrying then! Adding an island to replace the table with seating and the cooker in the end of it. Great place to bake cookies and things that need space. I have a great big window in one side and sliding door to a deck on the other, so it really is a great kitchen spot, just lots of doors out of it. Getting excited writing about it.
